    Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. (RGi) is looking for a talented and motivated Developer with strong Software Engineering skills to join our team!  The candidate will be part of a team responsible for developing and implementing a software program for our Government Customer.  The Software Engineer will work to support the development, integration, and deployment of applications in a cloud environment using languages such as Python, Java and Perl.  The candidate will work in development teams and use an agile driven software development cycle with continuous integration to design and develop software applications in support of GEOINT Services.  The candidate must be motivated, self-starting, and able to work well within a team environment.

    Software Engineer Responsibilities

    • Design and build full stack applications with modern technologies, intuitive user-interfaces and scalable data processing architectures using open source software
    • Write test scripts, in an agile software development environment, where built in automated test procedures are paramount and continuous integration of software and continuous delivery of software, to the Government is the culture
    • Ensures scrum practices are followed to include, but not limited to, time logging, comments, work in progress (WIP) limits, etc.
    • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software code, with duties to design and update software databases under contract and direction from the assigned Government Product Manager
    • Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimization
    • Perform evaluations on applications and improve their accuracies and efficiencies
    • Recommend improvements to existing software applications as necessary
    • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution


    Software Engineer Basic Qualifications & Skills

    • U.S. citizenship
    • 3-5 yrs. of related experience in:
      • Full Stack development to include Java, Web Services, Database and micro-service development
      • Agile and lean philosophies
      • Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration (CI/CD) techniques, test-driven development, and automated testing practices
      • Development of customized code, scripts, modules, macro procedures, and libraries to implement specialized spatial analysis functions using languages such as Python, Java, PHP, C, Pro*C, Perl, or similar scripting and development languages
      • Open source Geospatial Information Service tools and libraries such as QGIS and Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL)
      • Utilizing, creating, and analyzing Geographic Information System (GIS) and other location-based data
      • Core development experience in large scale enterprise Java applications
      • Query and management skills with geospatial and non-geospatial Postgres, PostGIS and Structured Query Language (SQL) databases
      • OGC services and standards

    Software Engineer Desired Qualifications & Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field
    • TS/SCI security clearance 
    • Experience serving as scrum or team lead
    • Experience in:
      • Integration and tailoring of geospatial Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software applications; specialized software and database development and maintenance; integration of related specialized hardware; engineering studies to identify and remedy geodata processing bottlenecks
      • Integrating and tailoring geospatial COTS software applications; specialized software and database development and maintenance
      • Government and/or commercial imagery products, to include RADAR imaging technologies
      • Integration and operations of terrain analysis visualization and algorithms and automated detection algorithms
      • Working with and developing GIS to include open-source and proprietary geospatial formats
      • Use of and development with at least one common geospatial tools dataset, and operating platform. These may include, but are not limited to:
        • Tools - Boundless Spatial suite, Remote View, Postgres, and/or other geospatial databases, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, Image Server, and File Geodatabases.
        • Data formats including KML, KMZ, NITF, TIFF, JPEG, GeoPDF, and similar geo-related formats.
        • Operating Platforms – ESRI, OpenGeo Suite, or similar
      • Core development experience in large scale enterprise Java applications using Spring frameworks
