Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. (RGi) is looking for a talented and motivated Software Test Engineer to join our team! The test engineer will support a Big Data and Machine Learning Analytics Project. The Test Engineer has a deep understanding of the full lifecycle of software development and working with the developers to create better test procedures and automation.


Test Engineer will work with development teams and use an agile driven software development cycle with continuous integration to test and evaluate software applications and systems. Ensuring adherence to company and customer quality standards.  Objective is to design, build, test, and deploy effective test automation solutions to expedite test and increase efficiency. As a Test Engineer, you will work with emerging technologies and data science techniques in support of endeavors to address critical needs of the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and other government agencies

Test Engineer Responsibilities

  • Manages the planning, development, and implementation of procedures for the testing and evaluation of standard and special devices
  • Test prototype software and evaluate complex, cutting-edge systems that focus on collecting, parsing, managing, analyzing, and visualizing large sets of data to extract meaningful knowledge, as well as test web front end UI applications
  • Specifies tests to be performed, compiles data, and makes recommendations for changes required in testing equipment procedures, manufacturing processes, new testing requirements and/or design of testing equipment
  • Recommends the purchase of new test equipment
  • Ensure maximum automated test coverage via unit testing
  • Create or refine manual test procedures in written documentation for human-driven testing requirements of a given system
  • Define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret developmental tests for new and/or modified system components
  • Documents and analyzes test results, and makes recommendations to improve overall quality
  • Document and manage defect identification through resolution and closure


Test Engineer Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Willing to obtain TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or a related field or experience
  • 3+ years of related experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Experience with test methodologies, writing test plans, writing test scripts, creating test cases and debugging
    • Experience with requirements traceability, system-of-systems integration and testing, test planning, development and execution testing 
    • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and suggest process improvements to drive defect prevention
    • Experience with developing and executing test program and/or test strategies
    • Ability to isolate and resolve problems, document bugs, regress and close issues while working on application releases
    • Experience with developing test automation scripts and utilizing automated testing tools and frameworks (such as Selenium, JUnit, RSpec, Cucumber)
    • Familiar with JavaScript web frameworks (Angular, React, Backbone, jQuery, Ember)
    • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g. Atlassian Jira and Confluence)
    • Experience with Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration (CI/CD) techniques, test-driven development, and automated testing practices
    • Experience writing code to automate test scripts
    • Experience with one or more of the following languages: Java, C/C++, Javascript, Python
    • Able to multi-task, self-assign work, and function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
    • Good verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Test Engineer Desired Qualifications

  • Software and Functional requirements analysis to determine testability, and to develop test cases
  • Ability to automate UI tests
  • Create test plans for software
  • Familiarity with test automation tools, such as Selenium, NeoLoad, Postman, Gherkin/Cucumber, Jenkins
  • Cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure, IBM, Rackspace)
  • Containerization (Docker, Linux containers, Jails)
  • Familiarity of IC analyst workflows
  • Experience with SSL/PKI, to include ability to isolate and resolve SSL-related server and client issues
  • Experience with development tools such as Git, Eclipse, Maven
  • Linux experience
  • Scripting language experience is a plus
  • Ability to navigate codebase, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems
