Overview

Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. (RGi) is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our team! The system engineer will support a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Big Data and Machine Learning Analytics Project to enhance information processes, technical architectures and modernization of tools and techniques to support the mission.

 

As a Systems Engineer, you will provide technical expertise and collaboration across an agile team ensuring system application requirements and user stories are ready for implementation. Provide technical and management services, research and analysis on emerging capabilities, systems engineering and integration, and big data management to address critical needs of the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and other government agencies. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.

Responsibilities

Systems Engineer Responsibilities

  • Responsible for rapid and efficient insertion and refreshment of technology through modular design and the use of open standards and open interfaces
  • Conduct analyses and trade studies including the identification and evaluation of COTS and GOTS capability required to solve capability gaps, IT solutions, and technology integration opportunities
  • Develop and update system Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documents outlining the significant aspects of a proposed solution as required
  • Technical planning, system hardware-software-network design, development and integration, verification and validation, and fielding
  • Evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability, and analyses for total systems
  • Performs systems requirements analysis to decompose high-level needs into functional, product and component requirements and derived requirements that support design and development activities
  • Refines customer roadmaps, enterprise epics, and strategic requirements into detailed requirements and actionable user stories to be delivered by the entire team
  • Document and manage user stories to support development priorities when using the Agile development model.
  • Flexible cross-training to also provide systems engineering, software development, training, security, and testing is also desired

Qualifications

Systems Engineer Basic Qualifications

  • US Citizenship
  • TS/SCI Clearance with CI Polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent
  • 4-8 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in requirements collection and analysis
  • Establish a means to control and track changes to system requirements
  • Experience conducting systems engineering analysis and trade studies
  • Experience developing architecture and design plans for software systems
  • Managing the requirements baseline allocated to projects including any approved changes
  • Maintaining bi-directional traceability by establishing and maintaining the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) mapping the enterprise requirements baseline to the system/functional baseline
  • Document and manage user stories to support development priorities when using the Agile development model.
  • Familiar with Agile frameworks (e.g., SCRUM, SAFe, RUP, etc.) and development processes to include release and sprint planning, developing requirements, refining user stories, developing and modifying query specifications, and assigning story points, as needed
  • Familiar with configuration management process – configuration control boards and engineering review boards
  • Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g. Atlassian Jira and Confluence)
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration (CI/CD) techniques, test-driven development, and automated testing practices
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Systems Engineer Desired Skills

  • Masters or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
  • Knowledge of data science, big data analytics, data ingestion & manipulation, and ML
  • Enterprise/Cloud architecture and design
  • Familiar with DevSecOps practices and tools
  • Knowledge of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) for analytics
  • Familiar with DIA systems (GALE, FISHNet, FounDRI, and Crowd Source Analytics)
  • Familiar with Modernized Integrated Database (MIDB)
