Overview

Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. (RGi) is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer that is passionate about technology and the mission of our customers to join our team! This individual will work as part of an agile software development team to translate real-world needs into technical specifications making you an integral part of delivering customer focused engineering solutions.

 

RGi is supporting an NGA customer focused on providing analytic insights, delivering the findings in near real-time within a dyamically changing environment.  The successful candidate will assist in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of systems, software, custom applications, and data integration solutions with a focus on both desktop and web based geospatial applications. The candidate will interact with staff at all levels of the company from analysts to PhDs. Demonstrated experience working as part of an integrated development team for the creation of complex applications.  An understanding of the ESRI ArcGIS suite of products is a plus. 

 

The work supporting this role can be performed remotely or within our Fairfax, Va offices and will include infrequent local travel within the Northern Virginia / Washington D.C. region.  Successful candidates must be a U.S. citizen and must be able to obtain a Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

 Full Stack Software Engineer Responsibilities

  • Operate as a critical Agile Scrum Team Member
  • Participate in the customer defined development plan producing work products to support processes as needed
  • Document, design, build, test, and deploy artifacts
  • Design, development, implementation and maintenance of systems, software, custom applications, and data integration solutions with a focus on both desktop and web based geospatial applications.
  • Implement solutions that meet DHS Risk Management Framework (RMF) in accordance with DHS 4300a and ISSO/AISSO mandated security requirements.
  • Produce deliverables according to the team’s Definition of Done (DoD)
  • Rapidly prototype new methods for processing and exploiting data
  • Research and communicate state-of-art methods from industry, academia, and government

Qualifications

Software Engineer Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • BS Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering or related technical fields
  • Significant professional experience also considering in lieu of a four-year degree
  • Minimum of 1-Year of professional experience in most of the following:
    • Full Stack development
    • Experience working in an Agile development environment (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
    • Understanding of GIS software adn GIS principles
    • Experience in Microsoft .NET (desktop and web), C#, VB.NET, Python, Web Services, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
    • Experience with web scraping / collection, processing of PDF files, extracting content, organizing/parsing it into usable information
    • Experience with extending ArcGIS via the ArcObjects API.
    • Experience with databases such as SQL, MySQL, and PostGreSQL.
    • Understanding of application architecture best-practices
    • Familiararity with open source mapping application technologies such as, but not limited to, OpenLayers, Leaflet, Mapbox and GeoServer
    • Familiarity with source control practices an dsoftware such as GitHub and SourceTree
    • Must have the analytical and interpersonal skills to elicit and document business, functional, and technical requirements
    • Ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of technical issues
    • Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
    • Ability to understand and interpret business application and is responsible for developing application and products to fulfill those responsibilities
